Emily Huang

Greetings!
I am Emily Huang, and I have been teaching Physical Education and Mathematics for the past seven years at Katong Convent! I enjoy running and working out in the gym. Keeping myself fit means having more energy to ‘chase’ after my students everyday! I love interacting with the youths because their boundless energies are infectious!

Besides school and exercising, I’m a foodie! I would drive all the way to the other end of Singapore just to eat yummy food!

Ang Sock Hong, Patricia
Halo! I am Patricia, I have been teaching in Hougang Primary School for five years. It has been a privilege to be an educator to bring out the best in our students. I firmly believe that I must “walk my talk” so that I can be a model for the students by actively involved in community projects and youth work outside school. It has been my dream and passion to inspire and challenge youths so that they can fulfil their highest calling in life.

Emily Koh
Hello all, emily here, small ‘e’ please. Though I teach Literature and English at CHIJ St Theresa’s Convent, it’s really an appreciation for life that we’re imparting to the girls – learning how to love life, how to see beauty in life, in words and in people. Learning how to serve others before yourself. Learning how to speak, read and write life-giving messages to the world beyond us. Keeping in mind that education is much more than just a grade is one way I’ve managed to keep on track, the other, is to keep bringing my girls outdoors, to enjoy the world in all its wild and natural glory.

Felicia Eng
Hi, I am Felicia Eng. Some people call me “Fely” for short as it is an acronym of my full name. I am currently the Level Head of Mathematics in Jing Shan Primary School. I take all the things that come across my path as learning opportunities and see them as a chance to gain experience for the future. I lead my life with the simple motto of “If it is to be, it is up to me.” These ten 2-letter words serve as a motivation to my life.

Esther Ong Chin Chin
Hi folks, I’m Esther from Woodlands Primary School. I’ve been teaching Chinese and Civics & Moral Education in this school for the past 3 years. I am also one of the discipline teachers and enjoy my role as a teacher advisor to the Students’ Council and working the prefects on the Pupil Suggestion Scheme. I also have a soft-spot for at-risk pupils and am taking charge of the STAR Programme for at-risk pupils.

I believe in reaching the hearts and minds of children, as that is where we leave our footprints as educators, which are eternal and life-changing.

“A teacher's purpose is not to create students in his own image, but to develop students who can create their own image.” ~ Author Unknown

Lim Kok Boon
Lim Kok Boon, a self-professed educator and visual artist, likes to make paintings, take photographs and write about art in his limited free time. A founding member and free labourer at p-10 (http://www.p-10.org), he enjoys meeting visiting artists, and showing them the ‘local art scene’ and food scene. When he is not doing the above, he is usually in school till late, engaging with meaningful tasks of sharing art with his students – this often means sharing books and food beyond the closing time of the canteen

Muhammad Mubarak
I’m Muhammad Mubarak, Subject Head Physics and Lower Secondary Science in Temasek Secondary School. Just finished my three and a half year mark. Passion drives the teaching profession. Without it you will be drained out in no time. Everyday I experience growth as a person and as a teacher. Need to be open and have positive outlook. Cheers.

Sarah Leong
Hi, I’m currently the head of the discipline department in South View Primary School. Raising leaders is something upon my heart and I hope to take the opportunity given to me to impact the lives of not only the student leaders in my school, but also the non conformists who end up at my office…

What keeps me going in the profession are all things intangible, to see my pupils catch on to the values of life, to see errant pupils finally find their footing the right way in society, to see leaders rise up to the challenge, to put it simply, to see myself make a difference.

Michelle Lim
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Teachers are blessed with the immense responsibility of moulding a child into what he can be; and the immeasurable joy of seeing them become it. Indeed, I am blessed.

I’m Michelle, a Chinese Language teacher at Pioneer Primary School. While I relish the challenge of cultivating passionate lovers for the Chinese Language and culture, I desire more to nurture men and women of character from the children who cross my path. I am joyous for I am doing it.

Sukhjeet Kaur
Sukhjeet here. J I've been teaching Literature and English for the past 5 years at Swiss Cottage Secondary School. I'm an avid fan of books, movies, music – I try to take every opportunity to incorporate my love for these as well as life in general into every meeting with students. As cliché as it may sound, I live by one simple rule: Carpe Diem. What's my driving force in school? The hope that students graduate from school loving themselves and being the best that they can be. I teach students across all streams and levels and this interaction never fails to keep me on my toes, as I never know what to expect next.

Tern Hui Kuan, Sally
Hi, I am Hui Kuan aka Sally. It has been almost 5 years I am in the service and I must say they are 5 meaningful and well-spent years. I am currently the Level Head for Science & Health Ed in Fuchun Primary School.
A mentor once gave me a valuable piece of advice “Treat every child as your own”. That has since guided me in many decisions I made. As a teacher, I am also constantly learning together with my pupils. The many hours spent with children in class and outside curriculum time has been very enriching and fulfilling for me.

Things I enjoy include having a nice chat with friends and family over dinner or just over a cuppa coffee
