Learning Circles (LCTN), one of the three WITS tools, is an effective professional development tool in building reflective practitioners. Through LCTN, we aim to:
encourage teachers to be reflective practitioners
collaboratively identify and solve problems in our instructional practice
publish findings and share new insights with fellow professionals
The LCTN cycle of R P A O R [Initial Reflection, Planning, Action, Observation, Critical Reflection] is rested on the skills of reflection and dialogue as members play the role of a Critical Friend (professional critic, sounding board and emotional support to one another).
LCTN is particularly powerful in allowing teachers time and space to reflect and generate meaningful conversations on pedagogy. The reflective practitioner is thus able
to lead positive changes in his/her classroom through reflection and collaborative learning.
