Teachers Network
Taking Care of Your Professional Development

Teachers Network (TN) believes that teachers are key to building a quality education service. To achieve this, we create platforms for practitioners to help our teachers on both professional and personal levels. All our programmes and services are structured to facilitate reflection and dialogue as we believe that these are essentials to teaching & learning.

Join us on a journey in meaningful professional development!

Teachers' Conferences
Teachers’ Conference, held once in two years, is an excellent opportunity for teachers to be engaged in an in-depth inquiry into education issues and pedagogical concerns. With international renowned speakers and fellow colleagues sharing on real global and classroom concerns, teachers are brought through a process of questioning and deep thinking about what could be further done in our local classrooms.

Teacher Work Attachment (TWA)

TWA is a professional development activity aimed at broadening the perspectives and outlook of our teachers beyond the school environment. Through work attachments in external organisations, teachers can learn how industries operate and gain new experiences. These new experiences could translate into innovative and interesting teaching strategies that would benefit students. Not confined to external organisations, attachments also take place in MOE HQ Divisions.

Learning CirclesTN

Learning Circles (LCTN ), one of the three WIT tools, is an effective professional development tool in building reflective practitioners. LCTN address teaching and learning issues through a structured approach, and emphasize the skills of reflection and dialogue.  Through LCTN , we aim to:

encourage teachers to be reflective practitioners
collaboratively identify and solve problems in our instructional practice
publish findings and share new insights with fellow professionals

The LCTN cycle of R P A O R [Initial Reflection, Planning, Action, Observation, Critical Reflection] is rested on the skills of reflection and dialogue as members play the role of a Critical Friend (professional critic, sounding board and emotional support to one another).

LCTN is particularly powerful in allowing teachers time and space to reflect and generate meaningful conversations on pedagogy. The reflective practitioner is thus able to lead positive changes in his/her classroom through reflection and collaborative learning.

Teacher-led Workshops

Our workshops are led by teachers who possess a spirit of sharing and continuous learning.  Being teacher-initiated would also mean that the workshop content is contextualised to be immediately relevant to the Singapore classroom.

At Teachers Network, we believe in the value of professional exchange and collaborative learning among teacher practitioners like yourself!

We are currently on the look-out for teachers to share best practices with others in 2008.

If you are interested, please complete the registration form, then email and fax a hard copy of the form to TN before 29 October 2007.

Do contact us if clarifications are required.

Induction Programmes
The first few years of a teacher’s career are important in that they shape his/her values, attitude and work ethics. It is also necessary at this critical period to help teachers cope with the demands and stresses of a new role. Apart from complementing what is taught at NIE as well as the school-based induction and mentoring schemes, our induction programme sets our teachers on the path to a life of continuous professional learning.
